Hallmark of the four-semester Master's Programme "Peace and Conflict Studies" (FKF) at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg is its interdisciplinarity and internationality. In addition to courses in the core areas of political science and sociology, seminars in the areas of cultural studies, philosophy and history are also offered. About one fifth of the students come from abroad to study FKF in Magdeburg, including Latin America, Asia and Africa. Many of them are supported by scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The aim of the Master's Programme "Peace and Conflict Studies" is to prepare students for both an academic career as well as for practical activities at NGOs, national and international organizations and in the media. Through course-related internships and language courses, students gather, beside their theoretical and methodological studies at the University, some practical experience and acquire additional skills.
